Pool Building FAQ

Pool Building FAQs

Building a custom pool is one of the biggest investments you’ll make in your home. These questions cover everything from cost and timeline to permits and maintenance, so you go in with eyes open.

How long does it take to build a pool?

Most inground pools take 12 weeks or less to build. That includes everything from permit approval to final water fill.

The timeline depends on pool size, design, weather, and how fast your city processes permits.

Here’s what the process looks like:

  • Permitting: 2–4 weeks
  • Excavation & steel: 1–2 weeks
  • Plumbing & electrical: 1–2 weeks
  • Gunite shell: 1 week + curing time
  • Tile, coping & decking: 1–2 weeks
  • Plaster & fill: 1 week

You’ll get clear updates at each stage, so you always know what’s happening and what comes next.

How much does it cost to build a pool?

In the South Fort Worth area, most inground pools start around $75,000 and go up from there, depending on size, materials, and add-ons.

Here’s what affects the cost:

  • Size and shape — bigger and more custom shapes cost more
  • Surface finish — PebbleTec is a premium product that lasts longer than other finishes
  • Decking and coping — an area of concrete around the pool is usually included in the price. However, many people choose different materials, extend the area, add seating, or opt for Kool Deck. These all vary in price.
  • Equipment — better pumps and smart controls cost more upfront, but save money over time
  • Add-onsspas, waterfalls, and lighting all affect the total

You’ll get a detailed estimate that breaks down materials, equipment, and construction so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

What types of pools do you build?

We build fully custom inground pools. Every pool is designed to fit your yard, your life, and your budget.

Popular options include:

  • Freeform pools — curved shapes that blend into your yard
  • Geometric pools — straight lines and clean angles for a modern look
  • Pool + spa combos — a heated spa built right into the pool
  • Pools with water features — waterfalls, bubblers, and deck jets

We use gunite when constructing pools. That lets us build almost any shape or size.

Do I need a permit to build a pool in Texas?

Yes. Most municipalities require a building permit for inground pools, along with separate electrical and plumbing permits.

We handle all the permits for you. We submit the plans, schedule the inspections, and make sure everything meets local code.

If your neighborhood has an HOA, you’ll need their approval too. We can give you drawings and paperwork to help with that process.

Permit timing varies by city. Some take two weeks. Others take four or more. We’ll tell you what to expect based on where you live.

Can I finance a new pool?

Yes. And most of our customers do. Many homeowners choose financing to spread out the cost instead of paying everything up front.

Common options include:

  • Home equity loans or HELOCs — usually the lowest rates if you have home equity
  • Personal loans — faster to get, no home equity needed
  • Pool-specific financing — we work with lenders who focus on home improvement projects

We’ll walk you through your options during your free consultation.

What kind of maintenance does a new pool require?

A well-built pool is not hard to take care of. Here’s what regular maintenance looks like:

  • Weekly: Check water chemistry, skim debris, brush walls and floor
  • Monthly: Inspect equipment, check filter pressure, clean baskets
  • Seasonally: Deep clean and chemical balancing after heavy use

Modern equipment makes it even easier. Smart pumps can be controlled from your phone and cut down on chemical use. We install Pentair equipment as an Authorized Pentair Warranty Service Center, so your gear is backed by real manufacturer support.

Rather not deal with it yourself? We offer ongoing pool cleaning and service, too.
